Born in 1983, Guylaine Ottawa grew up in Joliette before returning to Manawan as a teenager. She is the mother of three children, the oldest of whom is 17. She has been working in community health in Manawan for the past year.
“As far as my role in the film goes, it didn’t really feel like I was acting; it seemed very natural, as if I was playing myself. I took a course in police technology in 2012, then decided not to continue my studies at the École nationale de police but rather to return to my community. As a policewoman, you’re responsible for the safety of people, but right now I feel very useful as a health worker. I work in prevention and help people make better lifestyle choices.”
